Kuala Lumpur, 16 Mac - Operasi Daulat untuk memburu saki baki pengganas militan yang menceroboh Lahad Datu sejak 12 Feb lepas akan diteruskan sehingga semua kawasan di daerah berkenaan bersih daripada penceroboh dari selatan Filipina itu.

Yakin operasi itu boleh diselesaikan dalam masa terdekat, pasukan keselamatan percaya kini hanya tinggal sekitar 50 orang lagi saki baki kumpulan militan di kawasan berkenaan.

Anggaran bilangan musuh itu dibuat berdasarkan jumlah yang ditembak mati, ditahan dan lari ke selatan Filipina.

"Kami akan cuba selesaikan secepat mungkin," kata Pesuruhjaya Polis Sabah Datuk Hamza Taib sambil menegaskan bahawa pasukan keselamatan tidak meletak 'garis masa' untuk operasi itu.

Selepas 12 hari Operasi Daulat, Kampung Tanduo yang sebelum ini menjadi kubu kumpulan penceroboh kini bersih daripada pengganas, dan pasukan keselamatan percaya usaha membersih Kampung Tanjung Batu akan dapat diselesaikan esok.

Hamza berkata penduduk kampung terlibat akan dibenar pulang selepas pasukan keselamatan membersihkan kawasan itu daripada jerangkap samar dan pelbagai ancaman lain serta berbincang dengan ketua masyarakat.

"Kami akan letak anggota keselamatan untuk pastikan tiada musuh dapat kembali semula ke kampung berkenaan," katanya.

Dalam tempoh 72 jam sehingga 5 petang ini, tiada pertempuran antara pasukan keselamatan dan penceroboh militan.

Pasukan keselamatan melancarkan serangan ofensif terhadap kumpulan militant dari Sulu pada 5 Mac selepas beberapa siri rundingan dengan kumpulan yang menceroboh pesisir pantai Lahad Datu sejak 12 Feb lepas, gagal.

Dalam tempoh itu, 61 musuh ditembak mati dan 27 daripada mayat pengganas telah dibawa keluar dari zon merah manakala 104 ditahan kerana disyaki mempunyai kaitan dengan kumpulan pengganas, dan 232 ditahan kerana berada di kawasan larangan.

Sembilan anggota keselamatan terdiri daripada lapan anggota polis dan seorang tentera terkorban dalam pertempuran dengan kumpulan pengganas itu.

Some gunmen were killed in clashes at three separate locations after police and army personnel widened their search to Kampung Tanjung Batu, but security forces could not confirm the casualty figures yet.

A police forensic team was sent to investigate a mass grave in Kampung Tanduo where the bodies of 9 Sulu terrorists were found. Team members were was shot at by armed terrorists there. Security personnel returned fire. No casualties or injuries were reported.

Police arrested four men believed to be linked to the armed intruders involved in the ambush in Kampung Sri Jaya, Simunul on 2 March 2013.

32 more terrorists killed, Malaysia rejects unilateral ceasefire call by Jamalul Kiram.

A total of 32 Sulu gunmen were killed in mopping up operations by security forces, bringing the overall death toll to 52. One of those killed is believed to be a high-ranking general. Of those killed today, 31 were found dead in Kampung Tanjung Batu and the other in Kampung Tanduo.

Malaysia rejected the unilateral ceasefire call by self-proclaimed Sulu Sultan Jamalul Kiram III. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib said the Sulu militants must lay down arms and surrender unconditionally and operations against them "will go on as long as it takes."

The PM also announced the setting up of a special security area to secure the borders of the east coast of Sabah and reassure the people of Sabah about their safety. The area encompassed the districts of Kudat, Tawau, Kunak, Sandakan and Lahad Datu.

The Philippine government is studying the possibility of extraditing Sultan Jamalul Kiram to Malaysia to face criminal charges, Justice Secretary Leila De Lima said Thursday.

The residents of Kampung Tanduo, Tanjung Labian, Tanjung Batu, Tanagian and Sungai Bilis, who had to be evacuated following the intrusion by an armed group from Southern Philippines, are confident that the nation's security forces can resolve the situation.

The security forces cordoned off all sea and land routes to prevent food and weapons supplies from reaching the armed intruders from Southern Philippines.

Philippine President Benigno Aquino III blamed self-styled Sulu Sultan Jamalul Kiram III for putting Filipinos in Sabah at risk, and asked the Filipino public to support what was “right”.

52 suspects linked to Sulu armed intruders detained.

Rajah Mudah Agbimuddin Kiram and his men are now suffering from hunger due to constantly running around on foot to evade the Malaysian security forces, said his relatives Abraham Idjirani, spokesperson of Sultan Jamalul Kiram III.

Police detained 52 people for suspected links with Sulu armed intruders in Sabah. They were detained under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012.

Peace loving Malaysians laid flowers outside the Philippines embassy.

The initiative themed Fight Fire with Flowers, was simply to call for peace and show appreciation to those at the Lahad Datu and Semporna forefront.

No gun battle has been reported in Kampung Tanduo, Lahad Datu, in the last 24 hours, four days after security forces launched an offensive against Sulu militants.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar refuted rumours that 700 Sulu gunmen have entered Sabah.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak visited police and military personnel at Felda Sahabat, Lahad Datu to boost their morale.

Remnants of the Sulu militant intruders in Sabah have yet to indicate they want to surrender. Security forces continue their operations.

Police tightened security at all entry points nationwide to ensure the safety and security of Malaysians.

The Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) strongly condemns the violent acts committed by Sulu terrorists in Lahad Datu and Semporna, said its chairman Muslimin Sema.

Police conducted a thorough check at Lorong 5, Kampung Simunul for remaining weapons of the Sulu militants who ambushed and killed six policemen on March 2

Security forces shot dead a Sulu gunman who attempted to slip through a tight security cordon at Kampung Tanjung Batu, bringing to 53 the total number of Sulu gunmen killed.

Total number of suspects detained increased to 79 for investigation into their links with armed intruders.
